Cherry-Viewing Picnic          姫路城でお花見

   On April 9 , '06  we visited Himeji Castle,                       平成18年4月9日、私たちは日本で初めて
   one of the national treasure and a                             　ユネスコの世界文化 遺産に登録された
　 UNESCO World Cultural Heritage,　　　                          国宝姫路城に行って来ました。姫路城は
   registered as the first such site in Japan  in 1993  .       その美しい姿から「白鷺城」と呼ばれています。
  The castle is called "White　Heron　Castle" because of
   its  beautiful appearance , fully covered with white
   plaster, looks like white elegant bird flying in the sky.

    Many of you might know 'Bonsai ', 　　　　　  みなさん盆栽はご存知のことと思います。
    miniature potted trees that are                   2月10日盆梅で有名な 滋賀県、長浜市の
   cultivated for years.  We went to Nagahama, 　　慶雲館に行って来ました。
    Shiga to visit  Keiun-kan , famous　for　　　　　盆梅は長いものでは、何百年の年月をかけて
 　 its Bonbai, on Feb.10.             　　　　　　　　　　大切に育てられた大きな梅の盆栽です。 
    Bonbai are gigantic Plum(Chinese Apricot) Bonsai,  
   most oｆ　which have been grown over several

  Outside　the exhibition hall many Bonsai were on        会場の外では盆栽市が。スタッフの方がご親切に
  sale. A gardener there kindly answered our questions. 　色々な質問にお答え下さいました。

                       Nagahama Bonbai Exhibition is held　aproximately from Jan.10 to beginning of March.
